Tinubu’s Minister Resigns Over Certificate Scandal

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, over a scandal concerning his university certificate.
Nnaji who was appointed minister in August 2023, is accused of forging his university and National Youth Service Corps certificates.
An investigation by an online newspaper discovered that Nnaji did not graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as he claimed in the documents he submitted for clearance for appointment as minister.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy said in a statement that the minister resigned “following some allegations against him”, but did not expatiate.
“He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria.
“Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.
“President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours,” Onanuga said in the statement.
