Troops Eliminate 40 Terrorists In Mada Area Of Zamfara
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, supported by local Askarawa vigilance group have eliminated 40 terrorists who attempted to overrun Mada in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The terrorists launched a large-scale retaliatory attack on Mada on Tuesday, where a notorious bandit leader, Alhaji Sani Dan Garin Bawo, was eliminated by security forces.
Intelligence sources said that hundreds of fighters on motorcycles, led by one Dogo Hamza, converged on Manya village close to Mada, from where they launched their assault.
However, security forces swiftly stormed the outskirts of Mada, engaging the heavily armed assailants in a gunfight. However, as the firefight intensified, some bandits infiltrated Mada town, firing indiscriminately.
The quick arrival of reinforcement from the Nigerian Army intensified the battle and prevented the terrorists from burning houses, looting properties, or abducting residents.
According to an eyewitness, the battle lasted several hours, with security forces and vigilance group members overpowering the attackers.
“We counted about 40 bandits killed, but unfortunately, four civilians lost their lives due to stray bullets,” a source said.
