UNICEF Donates Cholera Prevention Kits To Jigawa Flood Victims

The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), has donated 1,250 cartons of cholera prevention and hygiene diginity kits to Jigawa state flood victims.
Speaking while distributing the material at Tsakuwawa village of Miga local government area in the state, the Deputy Director Planning in the state Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Malam Kamaladdin Ahmad said “the UNICEF supported the Jigawa state government with Cholera prevention and sanitation kits to be distributed to the victims of the flood disaster in the state”.
“The kits are only for the victims living in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across the state.
“The victims who are squatting with their relatives, the ones who returned home and those living outside IDP camps will no benefit from the gesture,” he said.
He said the items included 750 cartons for cholera prevention and 500 Hygiene Dignity Kits.
“From the records we received from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), there are IDP camps in 18 local government areas, we have all their locations and we will meet them”.
“This is the seventh local government area; we were in Auyo, Buji, Kiyawa, Kafin Hausa, Gagarawa, Jahun and we are now in Miga local government area,” Kamaladdin said.
He said each set of kit contains soap, sanitary pads, water treatment material and other environmental and body sanitation materials for households.
