The Vice-Chancellor, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Prof. Lateef Oladimeji has called for meaningful digital transformation in re- imagining education in the Nigerian educational landscape.
Oladimeji was speaking in Ilorin as the keynote speaker during the 2026 Biennial International Conference, hosted by the university’s Faculty of Education.
The Vice- Chancellor spoke on the theme, “Re-imagining Education: Embracing Digital Innovation and Inclusive Practices for Complex Well-being in a Dynamic World”.
Oladimeji cautioned that, technology must not be introduced because it is fashionable but rather, because it improves teaching, learning, research and community engagement.
The Vice-Chancellor said that combining virtual learning environments, learning analytics digital content and emerging technologies with sound pedagogy and human presence must be given across educational levels.
He said this would give education its moral and relational character.
A major highlight of the occasion was the presentation of awards to Chief (Dr) AbdulRaheem Oladimeji, Founder, Al-Hikmah University, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oladimeji.
Re-imagining education is described by experts as the rethinking and redesigning of how teaching and learning are done so that education better meets the needs of learners and society today and in the future.
Instead of relying mainly on traditional methods, such as the teacher lecturing while students listen and memorize, re-imagined education focuses more on creativity, critical thinking, technology, practical skills, collaboration and lifelong learning.
