Villagers battle more than 150 bandits for 4 hours in Zamfara 

Villagers battled more than 150 bandits for four hours on Monday night after they were encircled by the terrorists in Zamfara State.

Sources said bandits on more than 50 motorcycles encircled the village at about 11pm, but met a resilient response from the villagers till about 3am.

“There was massive exchange of gun fire since 11:00pm yesterday night till 3:00am in Madira, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“We reached out everywhere for help but there was non. No reinforcement. There were many of them, and in the end they succeeded in getting into the community.

They killed five of our people, injured many, and set fire to houses,” a source said.

There has been heightened attacks by criminal gunmen and insurgents in the North West zone of the county, with bandits directing mass eviction of villages as they sustain abduction for ransom and creating fears among farmers as the rainy season approaches.

Zamfara State us the epicentre of banditry and illegal mining in Nigeria.
