Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani says the state government is building 2,326 new classrooms, renovating 707 others across the state.
The governor made this known while commissioned blocks of 18 classrooms at two basic education schools in Zaria Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
One of the structures commissioned was the two-storey block of 12 classrooms at Shehu Idris Basic Education School, Babban Dodo, Zaria. The school has a population of more than 3,470 pupils.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, reiterated the government’s commitment to educational development in order to build an enterprising society.
Uba Sani noted that education empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and drives economic growth, hence, the decision to invest massively in educational infrastructure.
“Today’s event is not just about the opening of new buildings; it is about our collective dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment for our children.
“This project represents our steadfast commitment to ensuring that every child in Kaduna State has access to quality education in a safe and supportive environment.
“Currently, under Phase I of this administration’s Schools Infrastructure Facilities Upgrade, we are building 2,326 new classrooms and renovating 707 more across the 23 local governments of the state.
“We have also distributed more than 34,000 pupils’ and teachers’ furniture.
“These efforts are all aimed at creating an educational system that is inclusive, equitable, and capable of producing the leaders of tomorrow,” the governor added.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman, Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, Malam Tijjani Abdullahi, said government’s relentless and strategic initiatives have brought about transformative changes in the education sector that will have lasting impact.
