Why I dropped some Commissioners – Gov Yusuf
Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, says his recent cabinet reshuffle is aimed at reinvigorating his administration to deliver on its campaign promises effectively.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesperson for the governor on Wednesday in Kano.
Yusuf said that the decision was not politically motivated.
“Recently, we made some decisions, including a cabinet reshuffle. As a result, some individuals lost their positions, while others were reassigned to new roles. Let me reiterate that this action was taken in the best interest of the good people of Kano State,” he said.
Yusuf said that the action was essential to inject fresh energy into the administration and strengthen the implementation of government policies.
He said that fulfilling the campaign promises of the New Nigeria People’s Party required urgent steps to improve efficiency and service delivery.
“The NNPP administration is committed to delivering the dividends of democracy. To achieve this, we needed to effect changes that would accelerate the process. This reshuffle is aimed at improving the system and ensuring we meet our goals within the limited time available,” he stated.
Seven new commissioners, recently screened and cleared by the Kano State House of Assembly, have been appointed to fill the vacant positions.
Yusuf expressed optimism that the new appointees would bring fresh ideas to drive social and infrastructural development in the state.
The governor also reassured those affected by the reshuffle that they would not be sidelined permanently, promising to reassign them to other roles in the administration.
“For those who were reassigned, we urge them to leverage their previous experiences in their new positions. And for those who were dropped, let me assure them that they remain valuable members of our administration and will be called upon to serve the state in other capacities,” Yusuf added.
The governor said that the newly appointed commissioners would join the next executive council meeting, during which their respective portfolios would be announced.
The governor called on Kano residents to support the administration’s decisions, reiterating his commitment to delivering on his promises to the people.
