Why Kano is spending N1.5 bn for mass wedding of 3000 couples- Official

The Director-General of the Kano State Hisbah Command (KSHC) Malam Abba Sufi, has justified the budgeting of N1.5 billion for the upcoming mass wedding of 3,000 couples by the State Government, saying it is to support the couples in starting a family and to address out-of-marriage births.
Sufi told newsmen in Kano that each of the couples would receive N200,000 in cash for empowerment in addition to furniture and food items.
He said each couple was expected to receive benefits worth about N1 million all together.
Sufi said that it was the government’s belief that the mass wedding would help to curb prostitution and immorality in the society.
