‘Why we conveyed children from rural areas to mark children’s day in Dutse’ – Foundation

A foundation working on children’s development, The Baba Azumi Foundation, has said that its decision to convey children from three rural local government areas to observe Children’s Day in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, was to broaden their scope and enable them meet other children from different backgrounds.
The Syndicate, conveyed from Miga, Gwiwa and Kaugama local government areas, are visiting the state capital for the first time in their lives.
An official of the foundation, Miss Fatima Aliyu said the initiative has live improved the knowledge and perspectives of the children, and satisfied their curiosity in so many ways.
“In the past, we organise events like this in their localities, but this time, we decided to bring them here to mix with other children and meet the state leaders.
“They were all happy. They saw the deputy governor, secretary to the state government, commissioner of education and many other top government functionaries.
“This would encourage them to develop more interest in their studies so as to grow and become the future leaders of the state and the country.
She said the foundation activities also include capacity building for women, youth and people with disabilities, and linking government with the needs of people at the grassroots.
