Women group embarks on massive rice production in Delta

A woman group in Delta State, Positive Impact for Women and Youth Initiative, has embarked on massive rice production in the state to boost food security.

The National Coordinator of the group, Mrs. Martha Onadeko, made this known when they paid a courtesy visit to the Senator representing Delta North, Senator Ned Nwoko in Idumeje Uboko.

Mrs. Onadeko said they were determined to encourage farming among women and contribute to the development of the state.

She said to attain their target, the group has established rice farms in Ndokwa West and Okpe local government areas, and plans to expand to other local government areas in the state.

In her remarks, the state Coordinator of the group, Mary Samuel, commended the senator for bringing development to the constituency.

Responding, Senator Ned Nwoko appreciated the visit and expressed his commitment to supporting the group, while commending their initiative to go into farming.

He emphasised the significance of farming in creating jobs and enhancing food security, and assured them of his support to expand the initiative to all the local government and communities in Delta North senatorial district.
