Yobe To Showcase Sesame seeds, Gum Arabic Potential At Morocco Fair

A forum of regional governors in Morocco has invited Yobe State to showcase the state’s Gum Arabic and Sesame seeds potential at the 17th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition, taking place in April in Meknes, Morocco.
Mohammed El Bachiri, Executive Director of the association, extended the invitation when a delegation from Yobe state engaged the forum on investment opportunities in the state.
A statement by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General Press and Media Affairs to Yobe Governor, quoted El Bachiri as saying that the body was open to collaboration in agricultural financing, environment, climate and housing.
Ealier, the Yobe team leader and Secretary to the state government, Baba Malam Wali, accepted the invitation to participate in the fair.
“We have high quality graded sesame seeds, Gum Arabic, beans, groundnut and livestock among others in commercial quantities in all the local government areas.
“His Excellency Gov. Mai Mala Buni has directed us to collaborate with reputable agencies and organisations to attract employment and wealth creation opportunities for the benefit of our youth.
“The state government is ready to partner the association to engage our youth into agricultural production especially sesame seeds and others,” Malam Wali said.
Also, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mustapha Goniri, said Yobe state has the best sesame seeds in the world.
“The state government under His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni has established four Sesame seeds processing plants to upgrade the quality of the product.
“The international trade fair would give our state the opportunity to showcase the quality of our farm produce to the world,” Goniri said.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Adamu Jajere, said all the 17 Local Government Councils in the state would participate in the trade fair.
“They all have the opportunity to showcase their individual products to attract investors to their areas and secure employment for their people,” he said.
