Jigawa CP presents N25.9m to families of deceased police officers

The police command in Jigawa State has presented cheques to twenty-five (25) families/next of kin of deceased police officers who answered the supreme call while in active service.
The State Commissioner of Police (CP), presented the cheques to the beneficiaries at a ceremony in Dutse on Monday.
SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the State Police Public Relations Officer, stated this in a statement in Dutse.
Adam said that the CP presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
“The presentation ceremony was held today, Monday, 14th September, 2026, at the Jigawa State Police Command Headquarters, Dutse, and was witnessed by members of the Command Management Team and other senior officers.
“A total of twenty-five (25) cheques, representing benefits under the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Scheme, were presented to the beneficiaries. The cheques amounted to a cumulative sum of Twenty-Five Million, Nine Hundred and Sixty Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty-Eight Naira, Seventy-Five Kobo (#25,960,848.75k) only.
“Prior to the presentation of the cheques, the Commissioner of Police delivered a goodwill message to the beneficiaries on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police. He conveyed the sympathy, solidarity, and support of the Nigeria Police Force leadership to the families, while acknowledging the invaluable sacrifices made by the deceased officers in the course of their service to the nation.
“The CP noted that although no financial compensation could replace the lives of the fallen officers or completely assuage the pain of their loss, the gesture was a demonstration of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty,” he said.
Adam said that the Commissioner of Police assured the beneficiaries that the Nigeria Police Force remained committed to supporting the families of deceased personnel within the limits of available welfare schemes and mechanisms, adding that the sacrifices of the fallen officers would continue to be remembered and honoured.
“In his vote of thanks, on behalf of the beneficiaries, Yusuf Muhd Tsoho expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police for the gesture and for remembering the families of officers who lost their lives while serving the nation.
“He described the presentation as a significant demonstration of institutional responsibility and concern for the welfare of the families left behind by the deceased officers. He prayed for continued success, protection, and guidance for the leadership and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The ceremony ended with special prayers for the peaceful repose of the souls of the fallen officers and continued strength and support for their families.
“The Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Tijjani Murtala, psc, mnips, reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its personnel and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, dedication, and service to the people of Jigawa State and Nigeria,” he said.
