Former Minister of External Affairs, Alhaji Suleiman Lamido, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will takeover Jigawa in the 2027 Governorships Election, going by developments in the state.

Lamido, also a former governor of the state, said this at the launch of the party’s electioneering campaign for the 2027 poll in Dutse on Friday.

He said that the PDP was a major force in Nigeria’s political space, adding that the ruling APC was a baby of the PDP.

According to him, the political developments within the ruling party could create an opportunity for the PDP to regain the confidence of voters and return to power.

He promised that the PDP would address the economic hardship and other difficulties created by the ruling APC, if voted to power in 2027.

The former governor said the PDP has the capacity to respond to the needs and aspirations of the people if voted to power.

Earlier speaking, the state PDP chairman, Prof. Babandi Ibrahim Gumel, said the launch marked another step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Gumel said the party would intensify its grassroots mobilisation by reaching out to communities across the State to seek for votes of the electorate.

He said that the PDP would to take its campaign to every part of the state, stressing that engaging directly with voters would be central to its efforts to secure victory in 2027.

The chairman also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to peaceful political activities, saying the PDP would promote peace and harmony throughout the campaign period.

He urged party members and supporters to conduct themselves responsibly and avoid actions capable of triggering political violence or undermining peaceful coexistence.

Gumel called on the people of Jigawa State to support the PDP and vote for the party in the 2027 elections, expressing the belief that its return to power would enable the electorate to enjoy the benefits of democratic governance.

The ceremony was witnessed by party stakeholders, supporters and other members who expressed their support for the PDP’s renewed political mobilisation.
