Police foil attempted culpable homicide, theft of motorcycle in Bauchi State

The police command in Bauchi State has recorded yet another breakthrough in its ongoing onslaught against violent crimes and crimes against property, with the arrest of a suspect who allegedly conspired to poison and rob a commercial motorcyclist of his motorcycle.
SP Nafiu Habib, the state Police Public Relations Officer stated this in a statement in Bauchi.
According to Habib, the incident happened on Oct. 14 after a distress call by a good Samaritan.
“The incident occurred on 14th October, 2026, following a distress call received from a Good Samaritan. According to preliminary investigation, one Isiyaka Badamasi ‘M’, 27 years old of Na’ibawa Area, Kano State, criminally conspired with one Ma’aruf Sani ‘M’ of the same address, who is currently at large.
“In furtherance of their criminal intent, the suspects allegedly lured and poisoned their victim, 21 years old resident of Yelwa Tudun Area, Bauchi Metropolis, a commercial motorcyclist, by offering him a sweet laced with a harmful substance. Consequently, immediately after consuming the sweet, the victim became intoxicated, thereby rendering him vulnerable, at which point the suspects attempted to dispossess him of his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, value yet to be ascertained.
“However, the victim, sensing danger, raised alarm, which attracted members of the public in the vicinity. Isiyaka Badamasi was apprehended, while his accomplice managed to escape.
“Subsequently, the victim was rushed to Gamjuwa Primary Health Care Centre for medical attention and is currently on admission and responding to treatment, while the suspect is in police custody.
“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc(+), has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation, while effort has been intensified to apprehend the fleeing accomplice who will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“Furthermore, the CP warns criminal elements to desist from such nefarious acts and assures the good people of Bauchi State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property,” he said.
