250 Students Get Scholarship Grant In Borno

A total of 250 students in Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area of Borno State studying in tertiary schools have received scholarship grant from Hon. Salihu Alhaji Ibrahim.

This is for them to conentrate on their studies without distraction, Salihu said while distributing the grant.

The former local government chairmanship aspirant said the current hardship has left most students struggling to pay school fees and feed themselves.

The Syndicate reports that the beneficiaries included those pursuing Master’s and First Degree students, and those in Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

Those pursuing master’s degrees received ₦50,000 each, Undergraduates students, ₦30,000, and those in Polytechnics ₦20,000, and ₦10,000 for students in colleges of education.

He emphasized that the intervention was to alleviate the financial burden on families and ensure that students remain focused on their educational pursuits.

Salihu urged the beneficiaries to prioritize their studies, because education is critical for individual and societal development.

According to him, the scholarship programme will complement the efforts of Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, whose administration has invested significant resources in the education sector.

“We must support our governor who has remarkably advanced education and other sectors of development in our state. Today, every aspect of life in Borno has been touched by his efforts, and it is our responsibility to contribute to this positive change,” he said.

Salis revealed plans to empower women and girls in Kwaya Kusar LGA, by providing skills training to help them to be productive.

He explained that focus will be on tailoring,  Point of Sale (P.O.S) services, and other sustainable trades.

The aim is to provide the women and girls with the tools they need for self-reliance and economic independence, he said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of APC in Kwaya Kusar local government, Hon. Nuhu Gadam, thanked the donor for the gesture.
