Police Arrest 333 Suspected Criminals in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 333 suspected criminals over alleged involvement in armed robbery, rape, kidnapping, drug dealings and other criminal activities in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ahmed Tijjani Abdullahi, told newsmen in Dutse that the suspects were arrested from April and June, 2024

According to the commissioner, 83 of the suspects are facing charges of culpable homicide, 25 were arrested for armed robbery, 39 for rape, and 6 for kidnapping, while 18 were apprehended for vandalism and 58 for theft.

The police boss added that three fraudsters and 101 suspected drug dealers and users were apprehended within the period across the state.

He started further that the item recovered from them included two fabricated pistol, two Den guns, five ammunition and live pump action cartridges.

“Items also recovered are 14 motorcycles, two motor vehicles, a tricycle, 12 handsets, 36 inches Plasma TV, 36 Laptops, a generator and submersible pumping machine, large quantities of vandalized cables and armored wires and pieces of vandalized transformer,” Ahmed said.

He added that six cows, three sheeps, ₦792,000 cash, and 32 pieces of fake 100 dollar notes.

“On the side of drug barons and users, four and half block and 322 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 83 suck and die, four packets and 283 pieces of rubber solutions, 73 Tramadol, 190 Exol, 339 D5 and 31 tablets of Pregabalin were seized from them.”

According to him, most of the 333 suspects have been arraigned by the police in competent courts of law.

He assured that the cammand was committed to the protection of lives and properties, and appealed to people in the state to support the police with credible information to respond timely to issues of security concern.

Ahmed thanked the Inspector General of Police, and Jigawa state governor for their support, and all police personnel for their hard work and sacrifices to make the state safer for all.
