Gov. Buni, Traditional Rulers Agree To Strengthen Skills Training, Agricultural Programmes For Youths

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, on Monday met with traditional rulers and local councils chairmen and agreed to strenthen and expand existing skills acquisition and agricultural prorammes.
According to a statement by the Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, the intervention is to extend social and economic support to young men and women in the state.
Buni assured that the government would continue to prioritize social support through empowerment and training of youths and women to cushion the current socio- economic hardships.
“The state government will continue to prioritize community engagement through local government councils, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to be fully informed on government policies and programmes,” he said.
The meeting emphasized the need for local governments and traditional councils to attend to local and community matters to strengthen trust, good neighborliness, and community cohesion.
It commended the governor for the launch of the multi- billion-naira agricultural empowerment programme, and called on the people to remain law abiding and continue to pray to for the security, peace and prosperity of the state and Nigeria.
The Syndicate reports that the meeting, chaired by Governor Buni, was attended by the deputy governor of the state, 14 emirs, commissioners, secretary to the state government, head of service, chief of staff to the governor and local government chairmen.
