Shettima’s rise, grounded in sincerity and purpose, paints the picture of a leader who is deeply committed to the welfare of his people amidst an array of challenges which he had to contend with at the critical junctures of his political life.
Kashim Shettima’s achievements as the Governor of Borno State from 2011 to 2019 are particularly remarkable, given that his tenure was, on account of the harrowing interplay of politics and insecurity overshadowed by the mindless threat of Boko Haram insurgency.
Amidst an environment rife with unprecedented bloodletting, chaos and general insecurity, he not only upheld governance but spearheaded monumental development projects that transformed Borno. This transformation showcases that leadership in adversity is not merely about survival but about thriving, innovating, and maintaining a clear vision for a brighter future.
Even in the face of extreme danger, as he became a prime target for insurgents due to his staunch commitment to fighting terrorism, he still trudged on and stayed put.
