IWD 2025: ‘We’ll Continue to Prioritize Women’s Economic Independence, Well-being’ – Gov. Radda
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has praised the invaluable contributions of women to the socioeconomic development of Katsina state and pledged to prioritise their economic independence and well-being.
This is contained in a message to commemorate the International Women’s Day, themed ‘For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment’.
The governor said the administration has ensured deliberate inclusion of women in governance through appointments to key strategic positions.
“Women represent the backbone of our society and economy. Their resilience, dedication, and ingenuity continue to drive progress across all sectors. Our administration firmly believes in the power of women to transform our state, which is why we have ensured their representation at the different levels of decision-making.
“We have championed various empowerment programmes and capacity-building initiatives specifically tailored to support women across Katsina State.
“Our goal is to ensure that every woman has the opportunity to achieve financial independence and contribute meaningfully to their communities,” he added.
He noted that the administration’s flagship Goat Rearing Initiative has empowered over 20,000 women across the state, in addition to the training of 500 girls across different vocational fields who were provided starter packs.
The governor also said that the administration had provided financial supported the education of 104,111 girls in 255 secondary schools under the conditional cash transfer scheme.
“Our government has equally organized specialized capacity-building workshops, skills acquisition training, and provided direct financial interventions designed to support women entrepreneurs.”
Radda pledged to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s economic independence and social well-being, as well as create enabling environment for women to thrive.
“The future of Katsina State is brighter when all our citizens, regardless of gender, are given opportunities to succeed,” he added.
