The Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), has commended Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi for the release of N250 million conterpart funds to the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) for the procurement of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for malnutrition treatment in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the state coordinator of CS-SUNN, Shu’aibu Musa Kafingana, on Thursday in Dutse.
According to him, this is a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to improving the lives of children and a recognition of the tireless efforts of CS-SUNN to tackle malnutrition in the state.
Meanwhile, CS-SUNN has called for the extension of maternity leave from three to six months for lactating mothers to have enough time to breastfeed their babies.
The Syndicate reports that the CS-SUNN consists of Civil Society Organisations, and members from the media and the academia working to improve access to nutrition and reduce the rate of stunting among children in Jigawa state.
