The senator representing Jigawa Northeast Senatorial District,  Abdulhamid Ahmed Malammadori says the federal government will deploy an anti-riot police unit and construct 20 blocks accommodation for them in Guri local government area.

Malammadori said that the move was to ensure prompt response to any security challenges in the area, especially the pockets of herders-farmers clashes.

The Senator who made this known during an open engagement with citizens in Guri, also said a one storey well equipped building will be constructed to serve as the Divisional Police Command.

“This is part of the federal and state governments’ collaborative efforts to ensure adequate and permanent security especially between Fulani herdsmen and farmers.

“Guri is one of the most fertile areas with very wide arable land that enables cultivation of various crops three times in a year, that is twice under irrigation and once during rainy season.

“The area is also blessed with available bushes and forest containing indigenous fulani herdsmen at the same time attracting foreigners with their large number of animals, a situation that is causing crises and conflicts between farmers and falani herders.

“In the past, this area suffered a lot of farmers-herders conflicts, but since the coming of the present administration of Governor Malam Umar Namadi it has subsided because of the many plans, policies and strategies where all parties were given their rights and privileges without bias,” he said.

According to the senator, he has liaised with relevant federal authorities to undertake appropriate interventions to restore peace and stability in the community.

“I’m happy to inform you that on 9th of this month, that is on Friday, under one my constituency projects, work will start on the contractions of a modern stadium here in Guri town.

“Big visual screens would also be installed in the stadium to watch national and international football matches.”

Malammadori informed the gathering that in the last two years, he has secured jobs for 40 qualified young people from the local government area into various federal agencies.

“I call on you to maintain peace and be law abiding. Also redouble your support to All Progressives Congress (APC), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Malam Umar Namadi and myself in 2027 for more human capital development, infrastructural projects and other programmes beneficial to all.”
