Jigawa to recruit 10,000 for schools’ protection

Jigawa state executive council has approved the recruitment of 9,972 personnel solely for schools protection and other public facilities such as health centres and courts.
A statement by the Commissioner of Information, Mr Sagir Musa said during the meeting presided by Governor Umar Namadi, the council took the decision after approving the recommendation of the committee on “Safety of Schools, Health Institutions, and Courts across the state”.
“The report recommends the adoption of preventive security strategies to ensure maximum protection for all primary and secondary schools, both day and boarding, High Courts, Magistrate and Shari’a Courts, Primary Health Centers, and General Hospitals.
“To achieve this, the council has sanctioned the engagement of private indigenous security companies, employing 9,972 Jigawa state youths from the respective communities to serve as security personnel, fostering local employment and community-driven security solutions.”
Meanwhile, the executive council has approved the demolition of some buildings and structures at Gindin Dunya area of Dutse, the state capital.
“As part of its commitment to urban security and moral integrity in the state capital, the council has approved the sum of N421,194,051.06 for compensating property owners affected by the demolition of the structures in Gindin-Dunya, Dutse.
“This measure is aimed at enhancing security and improving the overall societal well-being,” the statement added.
