No genuine, defined reason for Takei-It-Back protest – Jigawa Coalition

The Executive Director of Civil Society Coalition on Security Peace and Conflict Resolution in Jigawa State, Comrade Muhammad Musbahu Basirka says there is no genuine defined reason for the  protest held in some states under the auspices of Takei-It-Back Moment led by Omoyele Sowore.

Basirka told The Syndicate in Dutse that the Coalition did not participate in the strike because it had no reason of doing so.

According to him, people in Jigawa and other northern states had learnt bitter lessons from the last protest held in August 2024 where lives and properties were lost “without achieving anything”.

He alleged that the Takei-It-Back protest was not in the interest of the nation, but “organised by some people with intentions of getting money and recognition”.

According to him, organisers of such protests often instigate the youth to take to the streets while they remain in hotels waiting to be called for negotiation and if it got out of hand, run into hiding.

Basirka therefore called on the people, particularly the youth to ignore any protest that has no defined reason.

Meanwhile, Jigawa state police command has assured residents of adequate measures to protect them.

The command spokesman, Lawan Shi’isu Adam said they had expanded surveillance and intelligence gathering to ensure adequate peace and security in the state.
