Okun Community in Jigawa donates food items to orphanages

The Jigawa chapter of the Okun Development Association, has donated food and consumables to orphanage homes in Dutse.
Presenting the the items at a ceremony on Saturday in Dutse, the chairman of the association, Alhaji Ibrahim Idowu said the donation was part of the association’s end of the year celebration in the state
“The Okun is a tribal group of Yoruba of Kwara state residing here in Jigawa State which every of the year organizing celebrations where the members of the group in the state would come together and have a get together to reunites and familiarizes ourselves.

“During this celebration we use to do something significant that would touch the lives of of people as parts of the association’s contribution to our fellow humans.
“This time around, we agreed and choices to donate this foods and other items to these children in this house. We believes this would positively touch their lives and gives them sense of belongings as the future leaders.
“As God Almighty gave us the privilege, we said let us extended the privilege to the less privilege in this house especially more dedicated appoint Allah has given upon the orphanage, nobody would know tomorrow except Him,” he said.


Idowu added:“We are extending our gratitude to God Almighty for still being alive today, have healthy and have our organs complete and haven some of us are orphans in the matured manna but with no challenges as like some has. Let me use this opportunity on behalf of Okun community members to present this items to this children, may it be more source of happiness and joy.
“The items include a bag of Rice, digestive Biscuits, soft drinks, some packets of Salt, Maggi Star, Pasta food and detergent soap as you can see.”
Idowu called on the similar groups, associations, privilege individuals and philanthropists to emulate the association and touching the lives of the children, the orphans in the orphanages and in their immediate communities.

Receiving the items, the Director, Child Development in the state Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Halima Yusuf, thanked the association for the gesture, assuring that the items would be judiciously used.
