Police Arrest Notorious Armed Robber, Recover 2 AK-47 RRifles, N5m in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robber and recovered two AK-47 rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition.

The sum of N4,986,000 was also recovered from him, a statement by the command’s spokesman,  Abdullahi Kiyawa, said on Tuesday.

According to Kiyawa, the suspect, Hassan Iliya, alias Buji, was among an armed robbery group that robbed a resident of Yandadi Village, Kunchi LGA, Kano State of N15 million at about 2am on Monday.

Hassan was apprehended at a police check point in Tsanyawa at about 6am on the same day while on his way to his village in Katsina State riding a motorcycle.

Hassan hails from Alhazawa Village in Musawa LGA, Katsina State, where he is known by the nickname Buji.

The State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, had on receipt of the report of the robbery, directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols to arrest the culprits and recover their operational weapons.

“A spot search revealed a sack containing two AK-47 Rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and cash, totaling four million, nine hundred, and eighty-six thousand naira (N4,986,000.00). Investigation is ongoing.
