The meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been postponed to Wednesday, August 28.
The meeting was called by Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, following a 21-day strike notice issued by ASUU.
Mamman had in a letter to the union said that the meeting was to hold on August 26, but did not hold.
A dependable source within the National Executive Council of ASUU, however, said the meeting will hold on Wednesday.
The strike notice issued at the end of ASUU’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the University of Ibadan was to press the government to release revitalisation fund to public universities; pay outstanding earned academic allowances, withheld salaries and promotion arrears, stop third-party deductions of members’ salaries, and remove universities from IPPIS payment portal, among others.
