Thousands of women attend APC mobilisation rally in Jigawa By Ali Baba-Inuwa Thousands of women from communities in Dutse in Jigawa State on Saturday throne the venue of a mobilisation rally organised by Salisu Sika in Limawa Ward, in what supporters described as a strong show of support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The gathering, which began at about 3:00 p.m., attracted women from Gwari, Garu Galamawa, Yina Gwangwar, Bukka, Gandu Tsirwa, Katangare, Marabusawa, Galadanci, Sabon Garin Madora, Raju, Kuka Uku and Kakau communities.
The large turnout was described by organisers and supporters as a demonstration of the political strength of the APC in the area and a message to opposition groups seeking to challenge the party’s influence in Dutse Local Government.
The event also featured cultural performances, with young men displaying traditional stick-fighting skills and other activities to entertain the crowd.
However, no major APC political figure was present at the venue during the early stages of the gathering. Some party figures reportedly arrived after 5:00 p.m.
The late timing, according to accounts from the communities, prompted some women who had travelled from surrounding villages to return home to prepare dinner for their families. Despite this, the rally continued to attract a large crowd.
Organisers also reportedly distributed clothing materials and brooms to some of the women at the event. Supporters linked the gathering to broader political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi.
Most women at the rally pledged their support to the APC, from the federal level to the state and local government levels.
The event was therefore presented by its organisers as a major mobilisation aimed at strengthening the APC’s grassroots support base in Limawa and surrounding communities.
