The Tijjaniyya Groups, have denied endorsing Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano as their preferred candidate for the 2027 Governorship Election.
The Head of Gausiya Association of the Tijjaniyya Sect, Sheikh Abubakar Darma, told newsmen in Kano that the group had no political lineage.
Darma stated that the group was purely a faith base organisation with millions of followers in Nigeria,
without any political affiliation.
He, however, said that members were free to join political parties of their choice or vote for candidates of their choice during elections, saying that such was mainly personal decision, which doesn’t represent the group’s position.
“The Tijjaniyya is a faith based organisation, it has nothing to do with politics, we are a religious organisation with millions of followers across the country.
“As a group, we have not endorsed any candidate or political party for the 2027 General Elections, because its against our doctrine.
“Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass encouraged political participation not for personal gains but only to promote justice and public welfare,” Darma said.
Also, Malam Tuhami Adam of the Sufi Political Awareness Forum, denied endorsing the governor for a second term in office.
Adam described the claim as false and misleading.
