Yobe Strengthens Security Ahead of Eid-el-Fitr Festivities

Yobe State Security Council has met on Wednesday and articulated plans to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state,

The meeting was presided over by the state Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana, who emphasized the importance of proactive measures to sustain peace and security across the state during the festive period.

Gubana, who stood in for Governor Mai Mala Buni, lauded the security agencies for their commitment to maintaining law and order and commended traditional rulers and community leaders for their role in conflict resolution and fostering unity.

Speaking at a joint press briefing, the Acting Commissioner of Police in the state, Abubakar Abdul Osun, said the meeting was to enhance  the state’s security framework for a peaceful celebration.

He urged parents and guardians to monitor the movement of their children during the festivities and caution them against reckless behaviours, including driving.

The Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd.), dismissed rumors about purported evacuation notices issued by Boko Haram to some communities in Gujba area, affirming the state’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens.

The government and security agencies remain dedicated to ensuring a secure and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration for all residents of Yobe State.
