Zamfara: Troops Neutralize 44 Terrorists In 2 Days

Nigerian troops under Operation Fansan Yanma have killed 44 terrorists and injured over 25 others in two days after launching coordinated attacks on terrorists positions in Zamfara State.

The operation, which commenced on Thursday, involved a three pronged attack targeting terrorist strongholds in Mashema general area, a notorious hub for armed bandits and insurgents. Also, in Badawa area, pockets of terrorists were successfully cleared.

The offensive, led by troops of 1Brigade Special Forces with close support of the Air Component, cleared several fortified terrorists enclaves in Kashabawa, Bwarare, and Zaki as the troops headed to Sakarawa Hill where they encountered stiff resistance with the area laden with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

In response, troops executed a flanking maneuver to avoid the traps while engaging the enemy, fronting a decisive ground and air assault, which inflicted heavy casualties and forced the terrorists holed up on the hill to run out in disarray.

Among the 44 terrorists eliminated in the battle were key commanders linked to notorious bandit leaders Bello Turji and Sani Black.

The terrorist leaders obliterated were Sani Bammuwa, Kachallah Auta, the deputy to Sani Black, Audu Gajere, Kabiru Jangeru, and Dan-Kane, the son of another terrorist Audu Jabbi, who was earlier eliminated by the troops.
