Jigawa Pension Board disburses N661.1m to 272 retirees, relatives of deceased workers

The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board has commenced disbursement of N661,162,525.84.13million as terminal/death benefits to 272 retirees and realtives of the deceased Civil Servants.
The Jigawa State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri, made this known while addressing the beneficiaries at the Pension House in Dutse.
He said that the paymenty included gratuity, death benefit, death pension balance.
According to him, the 272 workers were the staff of state service, local government councils and local education authorities who voluntary retired or reached retirement age or those who died in active service.
The Head of Service stated that N519,836,677.71million would be paid to 220 staff that had retired from service, while N123,241,273.10million would be disbursed to the 37 relatives of those that died in active service.
He said the last batch was beneficiaries of 15 retirees who retired from service and started receiving monthly pension but died before reaching their minimum period of five years after retirement. These people were paid N18, 078, 575.03million.
The HOS explained that the Jigawa state and Local government Contributory Scheme is up-to-date in its payment of entitlements to its retiress, including those that died in active service.
Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri also stated that the scheme is up-to-date in the payment of monthly pension to all retired civil servants across the state.
He said these reflects the state government’s commitment to the welfare of its retirees and the importance of ensuring financial security for those who have served the State.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Scheme, Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu disclosed that, the scheme has disbursed a total of NN3,601,331,427.72 to 1,428 retirees from January 2026 to date.
He said out of the amount N2, 876,036,977.22 was paid to 1,161 staff that retire from the service while N639,800,219.60 was disbursed to the families of the deceased civil servants who died on active service.
The Executive Secretary extended heartfelt gratitude to Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi for his steadfast support and transformative reforms initiated since he took office.
He revealed that the administration of Gov. Umar Namadi has injected billions of naira into the scheme, significantly enhancing its viability and instilling confidence among retiring civil servants.
Shitu said Namadi has injected Billions of naira to the scheme as intervension and its impact on the scheme is very effective because it has strenthened the pecnsion scheme.
The disbursement ceremony, held at the Jigawa State Pension House, is part of the ongoing efforts to honor the hard work and dedication of civil servants upon their retirement. The funds will provide much-needed support to the retirees, helping them to transition to post-service life with dignity and stability.
Some of the beneficiaries, who have served in various capacities across the state and local governments, expressed delight for the timely payment of their benefits. They noted that the prompt payment of their benefits will enable them to meet their financial obligations and enhance their quality of life in retirement.
