Ex-NIA DG, Zakari Ibrahim dies in Abuja
The death has been reported of a former Director-General of National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Amb. Zakari Ibrahim.
Zakari, who hails from Mashi in Katsina State, died in Abuja, and his corpse is expected to be transported to Katsina for burial.
The burial prayer has been fixed for 4:30pm at the palace of the Emir of Katsina.
A former principal, Zakari, who was NIA DG from 1993 to 1996, also served as Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, and was in 2006 a member of the 10-man United Nations Secretary General’s Advisory Committee on Genocide Prevention.
Ambassador Zakari Ibrahim was on January 27, 2011 appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria’s Anti-Terrorism Coordinator.
A consumate public servant, Ambassador Zakari Ibrahim held the traditional title of Talban Katsina.
