Jigawa State Chief Judge inaugurates Election Petition, Appeal Tribunals for Kore-Balatu bye-election

Jigawa State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Umar Sadiq has sworn in the Chairman and members of the Election Petition Tribunal and the Election Appeal Tribunal for the councillorship bye-election scheduled to hold on 23rd April 2026 in Kore-balatu Ward, Gagarawa Local Government Area of the state.

Wangara said the tribunals were constituted to ensure a fair, transparent, and expeditious resolution of any disputes that may arise from the conduct and outcome of the bye-election.
“At the ceremony, the Chief Judge charged the newly inaugurated members to discharge their duties with the highest level of integrity, impartiality, and adherence to the rule of law, emphasizing that justice must not only be done but be seen to be done.
“The composition of the tribunals is as follows; A. Petition Trial Tribunal
1 Barr. Auwalu Sani as Chairman
2 Barr. Sadisu Musa as Member
3 Barr. Sa’idu Galadima as Member
“B. Appeal Tribunal
1 Hon. Justice Ado Yusif Birnin-Kudu as Chairman
2 Hon. Justice Mustapha Bello Adamu as Member
3 Hon. Justice Auwal Ya’u as Member.
“The tribunals were mandated to receive, hear, and determine all election petitions arising from the said councillorship bye-election in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
